..."the official South African job board and career centre for the South African science industry." At this time, we saw very few actual job postings, but the list of employers is great and covers both industry and academic organizations. The career profiles are also wonderful and interesting reading.

..."Global hubsite for life sciences." News, trends, information, jobs, careers, etc., all for biotech and other life science professionals. This is huge! The job listings can be searched by location, keyword, and date of posting. The free registration is not required unless you want to store a resume here, save your searches, or create a job agent.
Entry Point!
This program of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) offers students with disabilities outstanding Internship opportunities in science, engineering, mathematics, computer science, and some fields of business. Application and program information is available on the site.

Life Science Search
...executive search firm focused on the Life Science and Healthcare industry. No sample searches posted, but potential candidates may submit a resume online.
MedZilla
...excellent source of job listings and exposure for resumes of candidates in Medicine, Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, and other scientific fields. Has been around for a long time and has an excellent reputation.
Nature
....the weekly international journal of science. Check out their latest features, sign up for their daily update, or go through the Jobs and Career info for career and employment issues, upcoming meetings and courses, announcements, employer listings, grants, and jobs.
NewScientist Jobs
...."This site contains every job featured in the print edition of New Scientist over the last four weeks. Start your job search by selecting a world region, then narrow your search by field of interest. This is an excellent source for jobs in Academic, Industrial, and Government settings. Registration for this service is free, and while not required it does allow you to create search agents and store listings, CVs, and cover letters. You can get to the main New Scientist site from here and enjoy the many articles found there along with the archives.
Post-Docs.com
...a database of nothing but postdoctoral positions. The listings are open for all to view, but registering (free) will allow you to sign up for an e-mail notification list and other services and does not require you to post your CV. There are other good resources to review, including information for non-U.S. citizens interesting in positions in this country. Users of this site will also want to visit their partners UniversityJobs.com and ScienceJobs.org.
ScienceCareers.org
...operated by the American Association for the Advancement of Science and Science magazine. This site includes job and career information for persons pursuing a career in any scientific field along with the terrific GrantsNet database of research funding opportunities. The jobs can be browsed by company, position title, or date posted, or they can be searched by keyword combined with several limiting factors like location, discipline, type of organization, and more. Users can also sign up for the Job Alerts, a free service providing e-mail updates of newly posted job advertisements from the database, as well as career related information. My brother Dr. Mike, the Herpetologist and Ecological Physiologist who now teaches at Indiana University at Kokomo, said this was a great resource during his job search.
Science in Africa
... this free online monthly magazine covers a wide range of scientific issues concerning Africa. Each issue features a number of short pieces written by scientists with a general audience in mind. Also includes information on upcoming science events, jobs, funding opportunities, and science education activities and opportunities. A free email newsletter is also available. They have several categories for jobs, but as a help to you indicate which ones have any postings and how many.

American Astronomical Society
he largest organization of professional astronomers in North America and it promotes the advancement of astronomy and related sciences. The association’s website offers the public access to several good career resources, including the AAS Job Register and a guide to careers in Astronomy.

Biology

Microbes.info
..."the Microbiology information portal" offers information on all kinds of things of interest to microbiologists. I like the "hot germ news" and "disease watch" sections. Links to all kinds of good information for folks interested in or involved in this field, including several good job sites.
ReefDoctor.org
...a not for profit marine conservation organisation currently working on the heavily utilised barrier reef system of the Bay of Ranobe on the south western shores of Madagascar. They are seeking staff to assist in overseeing their research operations and have just started a research assistant program for persons interested in learning about marine conservation.
Microbe World
..fun site designed to introduce kids and younger teens to the world of microbiology. You can help solve microbe mysteries, do some online experiments, read about microbes in the news, and find out why and when you should really wash your hands (oh gross!). Finally, you can check out careers in microbiology. From the American Society for Microbiology and available in English and Spanish.

American Chemical Society Careers
... a job and career information service for chemical community worldwide. It is not limited to ACS members, but some resources as well as some job announcements which appear in the most recent print issue of Chemical & Engineering News can only be viewed by ACS members. You do not need to be registered to use the Apply Now feature.

...an index of over 8,075 chemistry resources on the web, provided by the Department of Chemistry at the University of Liverpool. Use with some caution as there are no dates to indicate when it was last updated and if it is indeed being updated.
Organic Chemistry Resources Worldwide
...nice organic chemistry metasite. Geared toward organic chemists involved in academic or industrial research. There are loads of links to journals, databases, dissertation collections, reviews, guides, patents, and current awareness sources. The resources for laboratory work include links to chemical product databases, laboratory safety bulletins (in pdf), products and services, etc. Site includes a plethora of links to organic chemistry labs worldwide, and links to possible job sources (along with their own small job database.)

Entomology

Entomological Society of America
... the society hosts listings for jobs and internships in entomology. If you are interested in studying bugs or just want to figure out what these people really do, guides to entomology, the work of entomologists, Frequently Asked Questions and more can be found under Resources.
Jobs in Entomology
The Department of Entomology at Texas A&M University posts listings for openings in this field, including assistantships. They also link to other web sites that list job openings in this and related fields.

Forensics

Forensics covers many disciplines and is adding new areas of study all the time.
American Academy of Forensic Sciences
..".a professional society dedicated to the application of science to the law. Its membership includes physicians, criminalists, toxicologists, attorneys, dentists, physical anthropologists, document examiners, engineers, psychiatrists, educators and others who practice and perform research in the many diverse fields relating to forensic science." You can review information on a career in forensic sciences (including emerging disciplines), check the many employment opportunities covering this diverse field, look for educational institutions offering programs leading to this field, and much more. This is a very rich resource.
American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors
...a nonprofit professional society devoted to the improvement of crime laboratory operations through sound management practices. Their site includes information on meetings, accreditation of labs, links to additional forensic societies, and jobs.
Education in Forensic Science from Forensic DNA Consulting
..."Our goal is to provide both the professional and lay community with education resources in the field of forensic science. We provide a general framework for thinking about forensic science and integrate all the different specialties through that framework." They have a nice summary on careers in this field, a short list of classes they offer, and links to additional resources.
Kruglick's Forensic Resource and Crimimal Law Search Site
..over 1500 links to forensic sites and information sources covering firearms, facial recognition, forensic experts, arson, chemical and toxicology, etc etc etc. Founded by the late Kim Kruglick, a criminal defense lawyer and national expert and expert witness in forensics and DNA evidence. Now sponsored by Forensic Bioinformatics.

Ornithology

Ornithology Careers
...for those of you interested in the study of birds, this is a marvelous site. The person who put this information together is Dr. Roger Lederer, a Professor of Biological Sciences at California State University, Chico. As he notes in this article, most ornithologists do not work exclusively with birds but may be ecologists, wildlife biologists, or persons from other fields. It is an interesting article, with suggestions for education and occupational information. The rest of his site includes some wonderful information for the bird-minded individual. There are a lot of ads, but you can work around them.

Physics Today Career Network
..openings in academic, industry, and government organizations. Physics Today is the magazine of the American Institute of Physics, and this career site is open for all visitors. Students interested in the field of Physics will want to look at the Career Guidance for High School and Undergraduate Students.

...sponsored by the Institute of Physics, this is a great resource for persons in this field. It covers news, product reviews, web links, articles from Physics World magazine, and physics jobs. All the jobs advertised in Physics World, CERNCourier.com, and Nanotechweb.org are listed here. You can quickly and easily search through the listings to view quality positions in academia, industry, and government.
phySpy.com jobs
....physpy.com, a service of pro-physik.de, is "a vertical search engine that crawls the web with the help of neural networks. We crawl the Institute of Physics, arXiv.org and Wiley Interscience as well." The jobs section carries listings of postdoc studentships, fellowships, and other positions in Physics. At the time of review we only saw European positions, but they were excellent opportunities.
