Directories of Recruiters

July 2008

Free Directories of Recruiting Firms || Fee-Based Directories

You may also be interested in our list of Search Firms or the Executive Job Search information.

These are listings of recruiter directories. It is by no means comprehensive, but will give you some starting points. Many recruiting and search firms that concentrate on a specific region or industry are listed under those areas in the guide.

Please remember that recruiters work for the employers who have hired them, not for you. They do not work to help you find a job. They work to help their client successfully fill a position. While they appreciate hearing from you and about you, do not expect to hear from them unless you fit a search profile they are currently pursuing. Please visit our section on Working with Recruiters & Search Firms for more information on recruiters and how they work.

...free directory of recruiters, search firms, and more. You can submit resumes to the recruiters / search consultants listed, but you cannot get any contact information for a follow up, not even a website. However, it is a good place to do some preliminary searching.
Oya's Recruiter Directory

...this searchable member directory is supported by the National Association of Personnel Services! You can search for a specific recruiting firm by name or scan the listings by state or industry specialty. The resulting list includes company name and phone number along with a link to their website, if available.

Powered by Cluen, a developer of recruiting software, SearchFirm is a searchable directory of international retained and contingency recruiters and interim staffing firms. Fee-Based Directories

The Directory of Executive Recruiters from Kennedy Publications
...an online version of the print directories you see in many libraries. You must register and pay for a one-year subscription to access the database (which is the same coast as buying the print directory). You might check with your local public library for online or print access before you buy. This covers both US and International
Custom Databanks, Inc.
This is the info on executive search firms available through CareerSearch. This is a competitive product to Kennedy's, but in many cases they may provide more contact names for each firm listed. Select Download Data from the left menu to search their directories of Retained or Contingency search firms by industry or position specialty, salary range handled, and cities/states/regions (US and Canada). They will tell you how many records have been found and the cost before you buy, but here's another interesting feature. They'll tell you how many firms have email addresses, fax numbers, or merely postal addresses. You can buy whichever list you want based on your needs (but I suggest you don't limit yourself to those firms with email addresses.) You are buying a data file that can easily be imported into Excel or any word processor for mail-merge and campaign management. Custom Databanks has also made 2 other databases available through their website, Growth Companies and Venture Capital firms.
Headhunter Email Lists from Avotek
Avotek Services in the Netherlands offers lists of international recruiters for several countries and regions. You can use these in conjunction with Outlook or Eudora to send your resume and cover letter to those you want to target. Check their list carefully to see what countries they cover at this time. Each listing includes an estimate of the number of addresses included and the price, and most have been updated quite recently.
Recruiting & Search Report
These are print directories listing worldwide contingency and retained executive search firms who specialize in various industry and functional areas. For an additional fee per directory, they will provide the will provide the content of any specific directory on diskette. The file is in ASCII for easy import into Excel or any word processing program. You can review the list of available directories on their web site and then place your order either online or by phone or fax.
