How to Contact Us
Please read the Introduction to the Guide and our Disclaimers.
All services and resources included in this guide must include
job listings or other career or employment-related information, services, and/or resources that benefit job seekers.
We prefer services and sites offering free access to the job listings
or other resources, but we will consider
inclusion of a fee-based resource if we can determine that it is
- exclusive to the niche it serves and/or
- valid in charging for the services it provides.
Sites which are merely selling products or advertising their services will
not be included. We want you to have something of value for all
visitors, whether or not they opt to purchase your services or resources.
We prefer sites that identify who is operating the site and/or service.
Not your web host, not your web developer -- YOU. And that
means something beyond a simple Webmaster@DomainName.com email or
a Contact Form. Why shouldn't you put your name, address, and other meaningful
contact information on your product? Aren't you proud of your work?
We are also highly suspicious of sites that register their domain names as "Private" so
that the name and contact information for the owner are hidden. (Yes, we do check.)
Anonymous sites that do not provide any information on who is behind their operation
will have to be particularly wonderful and/or useful to be considered for a listing.
Anonymous sites with no contact info and using Private Domain protection will
not be considered at all.
All sites submitted for a listing are evaluated according to these criteria.
The final decision for inclusion and placement or rejection is Margaret's.
The Addition of Fee-Based Services
As stated before, some sites which charge for their services may be included since the
information or service they offer is unique or the field or industry is
not otherwise represented online. The final decision about listing a site is mine.
However, I do not run background checks on these sites nor do I purchase their
products to test them. The decision to do business with any service and the
responsibility for making such a decision is yours alone.

- Check the Riley Guide to be sure you are not already listed.
I get a lot of mail from sites who are already in the guide asking if they can be listed.
Go to the A to Z Index and try some of the different categories
that you think would fit you before you contact me.
- Send me an email message and request inclusion. All I need is the
URL of your site, a short description of your service, and a valid email address
and phone number for a contact with the service, not a contact with your PR
firm. If I have questions, I want to talk to the folks who know what is going on,
not the folks who need to find someone to answer my questions.
- Due to the volume of requests received, I cannot keep you appraised of
the review process for your site. I try to acknowledge your request, and I
save all requests until I have had a chance to review them.
- It may be a long time before any site is evaluated and, if
appropriate, included in the guide. There are several reasons for this.
- I get a lot of requests to add sites to the guide.
- A real human visits each site to review it, which takes time.
- I purposely make you wait a while to be sure you won't die shortly after
you've started up.
Many sites contact me for inclusion just as they've started up but before they
have any real content. Sorry, but I want to see some longevity and original
content before adding you. I'm not here to increase your exposure and customer base.
I'll list you once I see you have something to offer.

We do not accept paid advertising except from our single sponsor, Wall Street Journal Online: CareerJournal.
This is a decision made by us, not a request made by Wall Street Journal Online: CareerJournal.
We do not participate in partnership programs. We do not post jobs nor resumes on
this site. Please visit Wall Street Journal Online: CareerJournal if you wish to advertise your jobs or yourself.
Please Note: Unless indicated otherwise, only the links in the left sidebar of each page
are counted by Wall Street Journal Online: CareerJournal as a part of our agreement. Links in the main content of each page
are not part of our agreement.

The Riley Guide does not request nor
require reciprocal links with other
guides and sites. We do not honor
requests for reciprocal links.
Requests for reciprocal links will be considered for the value they add
to the guide, a major part of that value being how they can benefit
the job seeker without requiring payment for the services or information
offered. (See the How we select sites...)
These requests will be judged along with all other resources.
Links which are then
recommended for inclusion will be placed with the pages of the Riley Guide
and featured as resources and not merely as the result of an exchange of
links.
