- Using the Internet computers at the public library to job search so no email
address? Only have email at the office, so you can't list it on your resume? Why not sign
up for one of these free web-based email accounts? These services offer personal
email accounts at no cost. You access your mail and send out new messages by logging into
their web site from any computer with a connection to the Internet and a web browser. How
do they keep going if you aren't paying for it? With lots of advertising. However, if you want
an email address to start handing out with your phone and fax numbers, these are places to
start. Each is a little different in what it offers and how it operates, so you will need to see what's
up with each. Be sure you read and understand their terms of service and privacy agreements
before you sign up!

- Online Connection
- ...dedicated to comparing the major commercial online services and national Internet service providers (ISPs).
Learn about software you can use, various services (including cable and wireless) and other good things.
- The List
- ... the largest list of Internet service providers, scannable by country, state, and area code. Most entries
just give you contact information for a provider, but some give basic service information. Always
call to confirm service offerings and prices and things change frequently.
There are hundreds of these services out there now, so shop around for price and services to go with your
domain name registrations.
- Network Solutions
- ...the original registry and still a major player in the game. They
also maintain the central database of .com, .net., and .org registrations.
- Register.com
- This was the first agency beyond Network Solutions authorized to register domain
names by ICANN. If you are looking for the owner of a registered domain (like you need to
file a complaint for bad service or you want to find out who is really running a site), you can
search the registered domain name through this site and find the registration information.
- GoDaddy.com
- Yet another registrar and host. Offers some good prices and services.
