We also have information on Cruise ships.
Fitness has been moved to Healthcare & Medicine: Fitness & Exercise.
- American Culinary Federation
- ..."The nation's largest association of Cooks and Chefs!" If you are interested
in entering this field, this is the place to look for apprenticeship programs
and accredited culinary programs. They have bulletins on the latest news for
culinary professionals, including updates on food safety and irradiation.
There are job and resume databases.
- AIB International
- ..."founded by the North American wholesale and retail baking
industries in 1919 as a technology transfer center for bakers and food processors."
Information on the science of baking, courses you can take, financial aid,
and some really neat links to additional
food and food science organizations online.
- Bakery-Net
- ...interested in baking or the baking industry? Check out
these links to equipment, suppliers, associations,
and (of course) jobs.
- Bread Bakers Guild of America
- ...a professional guild working to provide education in the field of
artisan baking and the production of high quality bread products.
They have recipes, tips, places to buy stuff, places to learn stuff,
baking competitions, links all over the world, neat quotes, and jobs.
- DC Central Kitchen (Washington DC)
- Second Helpings (Indianapolis IN)
- ...these two non-profit organizations operate food-recovery and distribution programs for
their regions, receiving overstock and leftover food from various stores and restaurants and
turning it into good meals for the hungry. They also operate very successful Culinary Arts Job
Training Programs, training the unemployed or the underemployed for positions in restaurants
and other food preparation facilities. Information and applications for each is available online.
- Escoffier Online
- ... wonderful resource to use if you are looking for a job, for education and
training information in food service hospitality or culinary work, and other good industry links.
- FoodBizJobs: Restaurant Management Careers
- ...conducts restaurant recruiting fairs as well as individual restaurant chain hiring events around the US. No jobs posted here, just a listing of events and employers they generally represent, but they do offer interview and resume tips on the site plus the opportunity to
register to be alerted should an event be coming to your area.
- Food Industry Jobs.com
- ...job listings and other info for persons interested in the food, foodservice,
institutional hospitality, and related industries. Search the job leads for
free, review the employer or recruiter directories, or post your resume.
You must register and post your resume in order to activate the Career Scout
and get automatic searches sent to you.
- Foodservice.com
- ...info and resources for the food service industry and food service professionals,
especially restaurant managers, chefs, and sales people. The Employment Center
includes job listings, a resume database, and nice corporate profiles of the employers.
- HospitalityHR.com
- ...not a site with job listings, but a directory of recruiters for restaurant management,
chefs, and hospitality management. You can browse by state or do a keyword
search for recruiters matching your criteria, but I think the browsing will get you
what you want. For each state, you'll find recruiters who work with clients in that
state, not just those located there. Under each recruiter's listing you'll find contact
info and a link to the firm's website. NIce job search tips.
- Shaw Guides
- ...Established in 1988 as a publisher of comprehensive worldwide guides to educational
travel and creative career programs. "You can search our database of more than 3,200 career and
recreational cooking schools,
wine courses, golf, tennis, and water sports schools & camps, writers conferences,
photography workshops & schools, art & craft workshops, language vacations, educational
travel programs, and artists' and writers' residencies & retreats."
These various guides include lists of (and some links to) organizations and publications for
more information. The guide to cooking schools is great.
- StarChefs
- ...recipes, wine, meal suggestions, cook books, links to more info,
and a career center which includes jobs and resumes. What else
could you want besides free samples delivered to your office...
- PastryScoop.com
- ...founded by The French Culinary Institute for people interested in the
art of pastry. The site is offered as a free service to inspire and inform
professionals and non-professionals alike. You must sign up for membership,
but they only need an email address and password. Site offers nice career
advice, but we did not see jobs at this time.
- Women Chefs & Restaurateurs
- ...founded in 1993, this association offers a variety of networking, professional and support services
to members. Membership is open to any woman in the restaurant business - a chef, an owner, a server, a
sommelier or a manager. They offer networking opportunities, a mentoring program for members,
reduced member fees for students and hourly beginning restaurant professionals, and
scholarships and internships.

- PersonalChef.com, the American Personal Chef Association
- ...here's an idea that is growing in popularity. Rather than eat out every
night because they are too busy to cook, people are hiring personal chefs to come to
the house once a week and prepare a week's worth of food! Doesn't this sound like
an interesting business to get into? Use their "Find a Personal
Chef" search to see if there is someone in your area. If you are an experienced
cook (or want to give it a try), contact them about training materials and
information to help get your business established. They also have recipes
for members along with links for the rest of us.
- Personal Chef's Network
- ...another good resource for those interested in entering this growing field
or those interested in hiring someone in this field! There are FAQs to review,
biographies of other personal chefs to read, and other resources to tap if you
think this is for you. Yes, they do want you to buy their educational materials,
but there is a lot here you can review before committing to this step. One of
the biggest thing I see is the opportunity to speak with and work with a mentor.
This way, you can learn what the business really entails before you make a big
personal investment and continue to learn while you work. They say all it really
takes is a true love of cooking for you to enjoy this kind of work, but having a
few special recipes and a willingness to experiment probably won't hurt.
- BigCityChefs
- ...a US company providing personal chef services nationwide. If you are in this field, they
are recruiting for restaurant-quality chefs to provider personal services to busy families as
well as chefs willing cater special events. Sounds like an excellent opportunity for the chef
who wants to move away from restaurants without moving away from this service.

- Culinary Cult Jobbase
- ...job openings in various aspects of the hospitality industry, including
front office, housekeeping, engineering, culinary, food & beverage,
sales, and those ever popular Cruise Ship Jobs.
- DiversityinHospitality.com
- WomeninHospitality.com
- These two related sites are online resources that support and encourage women and diversity in the workplace within the hospitality industry. They share a job board but have separate resume databases, networking functions powered by Facebook, and relevant articles. You can review the job listings and all content on each site without registering, but you will need to register (free) in order to apply for most jobs listed here. Both sites are operated by Goodwin and Associates Hospitality Services, LLC, in Concord (NH).
- ECR Hospitality Recruitment
- ...specializing in the recruitment of staff -from entry level till top management positions- for 4 & 5
star Hotels & Resort as well as Restaurants around the world. Review current searches
and submit your resume if you are qualified and interested.
- Hcareers.com
- ...thousands of hotel jobs, restaurant jobs, casino jobs, resort jobs, chef jobs,
cruise ship jobs, catering jobs & all hospitality industry employment. While this main
site includes US and International postings, they also maintain separate sites
for Canada and the UK & Ireland.
The Job Search form is easy to use. Select the Industries that interest you (or stick
with "All"), select the Position Categories that interest you (or stick with "All"),
indicate if you are looking for Management, Non-management, or either, then choose
your locations (for the US this includes several popular Caribbean and Pacific
vacation locations, but "All" is again an option, and you have International options
here too). Folks willing to or wanting to relocate to a new country will appreciate this feature.
The list of International countries in the Job Search form has an indicator showing
that "Jobs from these countries are willing to get work permits." Registration is required
only if you want to use their one-button "Reply Online" or set up a Job Detective agent
for yourself. While many listings here include the contact information for applications,
some do not.
- Hospitality Net
- ... Hotel and Restaurant Information, Food and Beverage Industry also.
This site hosts a nice job exchange and place for "position wanted" ads.
- HospitalityResourceNetwork.com
- ...jobs in the hospitality industry, including hourly, management, and internship/seasonal postings (none at the time of review). Job seekers can search the database, view the full information for each listing, and even apply for positions listed here without registering, but that free registration will allow you to store up to 5 cover letters and create automatic search agents to work on your behalf. There were a lot of good listings here at the time of review.
- istaffsolution.com
- "Canada's online resource dedicated to job seekers and employers in the hospitality industry." Not all industry categories had listings at the time of review, but we did see good listings. Non-Canadian workers are encouraged to apply as there are employers willing to help sponsor your work visas should you qualify. Visitors can search the site,
review job listings, and forward resumes if employer contact information is visible, but registered users (free) can store a resume for employers to search and set up email notifications.
- Catererglobal.com
- ...employment opportunities in first class hotels around the world in all areas.
Some of the job listings take you to the hotel's website to apply, but others
require you to register to apply. Very good hotels and interesting jobs.
- Hotel Online
- ...great information source and directory for the Hospitality
Industry. Includes up-to-date industry news, classified ads, a great discussion
area.
- PLH Consulting
- ...providing consulting services to the hospitality industry worldwide, including

consideration ("Job Search") and review some current open searches ("Services /
Head hunting / Open Positions").

- Casino Careers Online
- ...offers a job bank and a resume database for those in the gaming
industry. Only candidates matching the required qualifications will be added to the database,
and only gaming companies that are registered users of this service can search the database.
Qualified job seekers can post either an “open” or a “confidential” resume, which must be
updated every six months to stay active.

- DudeRanchJobs.com
- .."summer and permanent jobs on Dude Ranches and Fly Fishing Lodges."
What else can I say? You can easily search the jobs and read more information
about the ranches and lodges here. If you choose to search by Start Date, you
will see all jobs that start after the date chosen, so March 2005 will give you all
listings that start in March, April, May, June, or later. If this site interests you,
you may also want to look at our listings for Seasonal / Kinda Cool Opportunities.
- Resort Jobs
- ...this site features (yup, you got it) jobs
in resorts all over the world. While they may not be the most up-to-
date postings, you can find out what folks are looking for and contact
them to see if the positions are still open. A few links to additional
resources are also available.
- WTS International
- ..."one of the world's leading spa, fitness, and leisure consulting and management
firms". With offices in Maryland, California, and Dubai UAE, this firm is looking
for spa directors, fitness experts, and other management professionals for openings
around the world.

- Cool Works
- ...jobs in parks, ski resorts, and other seasonal recreational areas. Good
range of listings for people seeking "time out"
- OutdoorIndustryJobs.com
- ..."launched in December of 2005 to enable the Outdoor, Bicycle, Winter and Snow Sports, Action Sports, Fishing and Hunting Industries' job seekers and employers to network and connect. In these particular industries, a passion for the outdoors is the common denominator between the job seeker and the employer." We saw all sorts of jobs here, from marketing and senior execs to instructors and bicycle repair experts. You do not need to register in order to apply. Nice lists of resources for the various industries.

- Alden & Associates
- "Founded in 1999, Alden & Associates, Inc. provides executive search and consulting services to colleges and universities. [...] The firm focuses on executive search, with primary specializations in athletics administrators, head coaches, chief of staff/presidential assistants and general counsel search work." You can review some of the current searches they are handling as well as some recent searches they closed. Qualified Athletic Administrators and Senior Administrators are welcome to Join the Database (submit a resume) for consideration for future searches.
- John Skilton's Baseball Links
- ...over 5000 links to anything and everything baseball from Little League to the Majors.
Get info on all the parks, check out the fantasy leagues, and get info on becoming an
umpire (and connect to their jobs.)
- Game Face Sports Jobs
- ....offering the training necessary for you to get a job in sports management,
but they also offer executive search and placement services for their clients and
their graduates.
- Jobswithballs.com
- Employment opportunities in and information on the sport and leisure industry in the UK.
You can search the listings without registering, but you will need to register to view the job
details and apply for any positions that interest you. They cover England, Scotland, Wales,
Northern Ireland, Eire, and "International", but England is the best covered region. Nice
career information and lots of links to clubs, resorts, etc., for you to review (registration
not required here.)
- Minor League Jobs
- Small site with a single purpose -- connecting candidates seeking employment with professional
sports teams and leagues with those opportunities. There is a fee for the site (annual contract,
nothing shorter, not a bad fee), but this site is pretty exclusive in its offerings. I would say look
around the Internet but consider the fee a worthy investment if you are truly trying to get into this field.
- Next Level Executive Search
- ...an executive search and consulting firm specializing in the sports industry, both
commercial and collegiate.
- Online Sports Career Center
- ...job opportunities in the sports and recreation industry.
- SGMA, the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association
- ...all kinds of information on sports equipment industry. The job listings include
links to member companies and their employment listings and a couple of executive
recruiters for this industry.
- Sports Management Worldwide
- ...offers numerous sports job training programs, specially designed to get you started in a sports job or advance your sports career. If you are interested in a job in sports management, agent management, and many other areas, this may be one way to get your foot in the door. These are not free courses, so ask questions, evaluate your options, and be sure this is what you want before registering.
- Tazsport.com
- ...high school and college coaching jobs in all athletic areas. You must sign up
for a free membership in order to view the job descriptions, but you can view the
job titles and geographic regions before opting to sign in. Looks very good, and
as I said, it is free.
- USGolfJobs.com
- ...a resource for jobs in the Golf Industry, and a big industry it is! Along with the
job listings, this site offers career advice and industry news, but everything is behind
the firewall. You must register and pay to access the listings and everything else
except for the industry news. I guess if you are the next golf pro for the Congressional
Country Club in MD, you want to pay that fee.
- GolfingCareers.com
- ...nice looking site for this industry. Like the others, you will have to register to gain access
to the listings, but registration is free and you can see a list of the employers, position
titles, and locations before you register to get an idea of what is here. One quibble --
at the time of review many of the job categories in the Category Quick Search on the
front page had no listings. Empty lists really bug me. And while I appreciate the
"golf terminology" on the front page, I'd rather just see "register here" instead of "1st tee."
Not as large as some of the other sites, but looks good.

- American Society of Travel Agents
- ...the world's largest association of travel professionals, including travel agents as well as
the companies whose products they sell such as tours, cruises, hotels, car rentals, etc.
The Job Board is open to the public, but you must register to enter. Persons considering
a career in travel will appreciate the list of schools and the warning about card mills.
- TravelJobSearch.com
- ...good site with travel and tourism positions in the travel industry. Categories include
Travel and Tour Operators, Hospitality / Cruise, and Resorts / Mountains / Activities with numerous job fields in each,
like Airline Cabin Crew, Hotel Managers, and Chalet Host /
Assit. Review the Job Vacancies, or select the Employer Vacancies or
Agency Vacancies to select the employer that interests you and check just their listings.
This is a non-U.S. website and contains very few jobs in North America. Most of the
positions specify citizenship and/or work permit requirements. While the site is free
and you can easily review the listings, you must register your CV to apply for positions,
and part of that application is verifying if you have EU citizenship / work permits.
