Free-Agent Web Sites

Elance
...offers employers and business the opportunity to post requests for projects and freelance talent to review and bid on these RFPs. Website work, programming, writing, and graphic design seem to be the biggest areas, but there are many other opportunities here as well. There are fees for the "talent" as well as the businesses.
Guru.com
...."provides freelancers and consultants with project opportunities, great career advice, and essential services." Unlike some of the other freelance sites, this one does not want to turn you into a W-2 employee. All they do is give you a place to post your own profile, review projects that are available, and gives you advisors to help answer some of your work/life/tax questions. Free Registration is encouraged but not required unless you want to post your profile. Their "gig" database has a pretty wide selection of opportunities listed.
